This page contains a summary of how you should make urgent contact with Hobstone during your time in UK Homestay. More information will be provided in advance of your arrival.
General Principles for Urgent Contact
- When you are overseas, you will be given access to our urgent support number
- This is a number you can call if you have a problem outside normal office hours
- The person who answers the call will support you to solve the problem
- We do not publish our 24 contact numbers online, but you will be given these shortly before your arrival.
- You should put our urgent support number in your phone
- Write it down too in case you phone battery goes flat.
When should you contact us?
There is no exact list for when you should call us, but if you feel the problem is big enough to need support before the next day, get in touch. Here are some times when you should definitely contact us:
- If you are in hospital.
- If you have been the victim of a crime.
- If you are accused of a crime by the police (or even arrested).
- If for any reason you cannot get home to your homestay address at night.
- If you do not feel safe in your home (see below for emergencies).
Is this the same as an emergency number?
Well… not really… we define an emergency as being something that needs the emergency services (Ambulance, Police & Fire Brigade). If you have this type of emergency situation here is what you must do:
- Call the UK Emergency Services on 999 before you call Hobstone.
- Answer the questions given to you by the Emergency Services and follow their advice.
- You may need a UK phone to do this. If you find you cannot call 999 from your phone and cannot find another phone, call our urgent support number.
- In any event, call use once it is safe to do so.
