zzz… Sleep!

From singing in the shower to queuing for the toilet: Bathrooms have an important role to play in homestay life.

Things you should do.

  1. Understand that you will probably have to share bathrooms.
  2. Ask your hosts when they generally need to use bathrooms, showers etc. and find a compromise routine than suits the whole household.
  3. Bring your own personal toiletries (bath-soap, toothpaste etc.). Toilet paper, towels, regular hand-soap should be provided.
  4. Observe good personal hygiene habits (but of course you will do that anyway!)
  5. Treat bathrooms and toilets with the respect they deserve.
  6. Tell your host or us if you feel there is a problem or something missing from the bathroom (e.g. no toilet brush)!

Things you should not do.

  1. Don’t hog the bathroom.
  2. Unless you are told it is ok, try to avoid using showers late at night. For various reasons, the noise can be disturbing for some hosts.
  3. The same is true about very early mornings… it’s all about communication again!
  4. Don’t use your hosts’ personal toiletries unless you have asked first… respect their wishes.
  5. Don’t flood the floor… and if you do, make sure you tell your hosts and help to clear it up.
  6. Don’t be afraid to speak to us if you have particular needs relating to bathrooms, toilets etc. We know these issues can be sensitive.
