Doing laundry… what fun! Here you should discuss with your host to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Washing Clothes

  1. Washing clothes is included in homestay, but it is up to you talk to your host and agree who will actually do the washing and when.
  2. Ask your host whether they are happy for you to use the washing machine, or whether they would prefer to do this.
  3. Some hosts may ask that clothes are washing on a particular day (or days) of the week. This type of routine may be important as it will help them to manage laundry for other members of the family.
  4. We understand that having other people wash your clothes may be sensitive and encourage you to talk to your hosts (or to us) if you feel very uncomfortable about it.
  5. Students are not expected to buy their own washing detergent. However, if you have very sensitive skin and require a special detergent, you may be asked to provide this. Again, talk to us if you think this will be an issue.

Bed Sheets

  1. Bed sheets will be provided by your hosts and hosts are asked to wash these at least once every two weeks.
  2. Students may be asked to take dirty sheets off their bed and give them to hosts.
  3. Students may be asked to put clean sheets on their own bed once they are washed.
