zzz… Sleep!

If you remember one thing about homestay it is that communication is the key to success. That usually starts before you even arrive and continues throughout your stay.

Before you Arrive.

  1. Get in touch with your homestay hosts: used email, social media, skype, phone calls – Just get to know them.
  2. Ask them about the things that matter to you, food, pets, children etc.
  3. Ask about their lives, their lifestyle, hobbies and interests. Tell them about you!
  4. If there are things you are worried about ask about them.
  5. Remember, the fewer surprises the better in September

After You Arrive.

  1. Make the effort. Be friendly, open and positive.
  2. Don’t always wait to be asked a question, try to take the lead.
  3. Tell your hosts if you are happy.
  4. Tell your hosts if you are sad or worried, especially if it is about homestay.
  5. If you are upset, angry, frustrated tell your host straight away.
  6. Little problems can become big ones if you don’t solve them quickly.
  7. Talk to us if you need support.
  8. Don’t worry about feeling silly, or that your concerns don’t matter. If they matter to you they matter to us.
