It is a legal requirement for those hosting paying guests to have their gas appliances checked annually. We also believe that it is good practice generally. Servicing is an important part of managing risks in the home, especially from fire and carbon monoxide. This page explains what you need to do in order to meet this requirement.
What Hosts Need to Do.
We ask that all hosts obtain a Landlord’s Gas Safety certificate from a registered Gas Safe engineer. This is a standard check which most major suppliers will be qualified to perform. A national directory of registered supliers is available here.
- Following the check you will be given a certificate. A copy of the certificate should be sent to us.
- We prefer electronic copies which you may send as a digital photograph or scan. However, we will may ask to see original copies during annual home visits
- A certificate is valid for 12 months. Therefore, we will need a new certificate ever year.
- We will email you 6 weeks in advance of your certificate expiring to remind you of the need to renew it.
